Turkey Gravy
This is a basic gravy recipe that can be used to make almost any gravy, simply use the pan dripping from what ever meats you happen to be cooking. This recipe makes an excellent Thanksgiving Turkey gravy . Turkey Gravy
1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup flour 2 cups of combined pan drippings and chicken stock if needed. salt and pepper to taste
Melt butter in pan, add flour, allow to cook on low to medium heat until butter and flour begin to bubble and turn whiteish to light brown, add the pan drippings /stock mixture, bring to a boil, while whisking the mixture to reduce any lumps that may have formed. Mixture should thicken to a gravy consistency, if you like your gravy thinner, add more stock.
*Please taste the gravy before seasoning further, the stock can add some salt on it's own and it may not be necessary
(You can make this gravy simpler by using a packet of dry gravy mix. Use half the water recomended in the package and supplement the remaining liquid with pan drippings, no one will ever know your gravy is anything but home made.) |
