Valentine Crunchies:   PDF  Print  E-mail

candyValentine Crunchies:

The valentine crunchies, are a super simple chocolate candy, that is almost impossible to resist. An easy way for a child to have something special for a parent, at a minimal cost, and they get the joy of the "I did it myself". (With an adult's help of course).

Valentine Crunchies:

3 Cups Corn Flakes
2 Cups chocolate (melted)
(optional) 1/2 Cup raisins
You will need:

1 Responsible Adult
1 Child or more if you prefer
1 large mixing bowl,
a spatula,
cup cake tins
cup cake papers,
waxed paper,
a micro-waveable measuring cup or bowl or a double boiler.

Directions:

Cover table with a sheet of waxed paper, this is fun, but a little messy.
The Adult can melt the chocolate in double boiler or microwave.
*if using microwave please heat your chocolate at 20 second intervals to prevent over heating.

Child :
1) Pour corn flakes and raisins into large bowl,
place cup cake papers into cup cake tins (about 24) Or 2 large tins

Adult :
when chocolate is melted pour over corn flakes

Child :
mix chocolate and corn flakes with spatula until well combined ( mixed)

Adult & Child :
Drop by heaping spoon fulls into cup cake holders.
If it appears that the chocolate is cooling too quickly, or your child is too young to drop spoon fulls, Simply cover a cookie sheet with waxed paper, butter the paper if desired for easier lifting.
Pour the entire contents of the bowl (corn flake & chocolate mixture) on to the waxed paper and spread with spatula.
Allow to cool, takes just a few minutes to set.break off pieces and place in cup cake holders. wrap in plastic wrap, add a pretty bow, and the valentine's gift is ready to give.
This recipe makes enough to share with siblings and grand parents, and is really yummy.
**If you have several children helping, you can give each a task by adding sprinkles, or conversation hearts to the top of the crunchies, so no body feels left out.

This is a great recipe for kids to make with dad for Mom for Valentine's day, or with Mom for Dad. Also a big hit at Birthday parties.

Newsflash
Yesterday all servers in the U.S. went out on strike in a bid to get more RAM and better CPUs. A spokes person said that the need for better RAM was due to some fool increasing the front-side bus speed. In future, busses will be told to slow down in residential motherboards.
