Orange Spiced Maple Glaze
This Orange Spiced Maple Glaze is a sweet spiced glaze that is perfect for Pork, chicken or duck. Try it on your holiday ham. The instructions provided are for use with a ham. If you are using it on another meat type, simply skip to step 2.
Orange Spiced Maple Glaze
2 Cups dark brown sugar packed 1 cup maple syrup 1/2 Cup Orange juice concentrate thawed 4 tablespoons Orange Marmalade 2 Tablespoons prepared mustard 2 teaspoons allspice 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg *whole cloves
1. Score ham before cooking in a diamond pattern and insert whole cloves at corners of diamonds.This doesn't need to be perfect, the scoring is a visual effect, the cloves are flavor. If you don't like cloves, you can omit this step.
2. Combine all ingredients except cloves, cook over low heat to melt and combine.
3. *Make sure there is liquid in the bottom of your pan, wether it is juices from the ham, or ginger ale or apple juice, the pan should not be dry. If it is add a cup or two of water, apple juice or cider, or ginger ale. Reduce oven heat to 325 F, Spread on ham during last 30 to 60 minutes of baking. See instructions below:
4. *Spread 1/2 of glaze over allow to bake for 15 to 10 minutes, spread remaining glaze over ham for the final 15 to 30 minutes of cooking time. Bake uncovered. If your heat is too high glaze may begin to burn a bit, reduce your heat and cover ham with foil or lid if necessary for about 15 minutes to increase moisture and reduce burning.
